Wet n Wild Ultimate Brow Retractable Pencil Review

The Wet n Wild Ultimate Retractable Brow Pencil retails at R69.95 at Clicks, in South Africa. It is also available online from the Clicks online store.

Let's talk packaging.

The retractable pencil comes in a black twist tube, and all product information is printed in white. There is a sticker on the lip of the pencil to indicate the colour inside, but this sticker is not a true reflection of the colour within the tube.

I do love a simple and sleek packaging, but there really isn't too much to note about the packaging of this product. It looks like any other drugstore retractable pencil. If I compare the size of the packaging to the other eye brow pencils I own, this one sits right between the NYX eye brow marker tube and the Maybelline Tattoo Brow tube in length and diameter.

This retractable pencil is the wet n wild version of the NYX Fluff and Fill Eyebrow Pomade Pencil.

Let's talk formula and promises.

This Insta-worthy eye brow pencil offers a perfectly filled in brow with a unique triangular pencil tip. It is designed to create strokes that are small enough to look like your finest hairs and sharpen the edges of your eye brows with rub-resistant pigments. I feel like this is a little reminiscent of the tattoo brow pens that have taken over the Insta-brow world.

The spoolie on the opposite end of the pencil helps brush and blend out the product. And it's retractable tip makes it great for travelling (no sharpening needed).

So did it deliver?

The triangular pencil tip is unique, but it definitely did not create strokes that were small enough to imitate fine hairs, but it definitely gave me a beautifully pointed tip at the end of my eye brows.

Unfortunately, I bought the pencil in the wrong shade for my brows. I picked out Taupe (Ash Brown was out of stock) thinking that because the colour is for blonder hair that it would be fine, but it was way too orange for my hair.

The application of the product was smooth and precise, but after using the spoolie to brush out the hairs and blend the product into my brows, the precise lines I created smudged. By the end of the day the edges of my brows had rubbed off and faded away leaving me with eye brows that looked undefined and uneven.

The verdict.

To be honest, I don't think this eye brow pencil wowed me as much as I was hoping it would but this is not a bad eye brow pencil. I found that the application is smoother and more even than my affordable everyday eye brow pencil from Catrice - I use the shade 020 Date With Ash ton.

The Wet N Wild Ultimate Brow Pencil is perfect for an everyday natural eyebrow and is great in a travelling makeup case. I will definitely repurchase it in the correct colour to use for a daily natural brow look.
