My Travel Makeup Bag

So, if you follow me on any of my social media platforms, you will know that I recently travelled to Jo’Burg to visit my mother and to spend some time in Sun City with my friends. It was a delightfully warm break from the awful cold weather we have being subjected to this winter.

A lot of people tend to ask me what makeup I choose to take with me on holidays. It is suggested that my collection makes it very difficult to decide what to take on holidays, but my choices are simple.

Everyone has their favorite in anything and everything. A favorite flavor, TV show, author, drink, and as do I – I have my favorite make up. The items that I gravitate towards on a daily basis are the ones that end up going with me when I travel. This obviously changes as my favorites do, but my make up bag will always have a general theme – a list that I make sure I tick off in full because once I have done that I know for a fact that I will have all the make up necessary to go away from my collection for a while. My makeup bag will always include the following items:

  • A Primer
  • A Foundation
  • A Concealer
  • A Setting Powder
  • A Bronzer
  • A Blush
  • A Highlighter
  • Eyebrow goodies
  • An Eye Shadow Primer
  • An Eye Shadow Palette
  • A few Eyeliners
  • A Mascara
  • A choice of Lipsticks

For this holiday I decided to tick off the list with the items listed below. These are my current favorites, and the items I tend to use more often than others. You can also watch the YouTube video on all the products that I packed into my makeup bag.

Catrice Prime and Fine Refining Smoother

This primer is the bees-knees. Its creates a velvety canvas, seals pores, and it smells good too.

Catrice Even Skin Tone Beautifying Foundation in 005 Even Ivory

For a drugstore foundation, I have been loving this one lately. It gives great full coverage and dries to a matt finish, hiding all of my skins oiliness without looking cakey.

Catrice Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer in 010 Porcelain

This has become my holy grail concealer, I am officially too afraid to try anything else in fear that it won’t live up to this one. This product is true to its name and provides a decent full cover on those nasty under eye circles.

Catrice All Matt Plus Shine Control Powder in 010 Transparent

Another product that I have been enjoying lately. This powder gives a very natural and subtle finish to the foundation and concealer.

Catrice Sun Glow Matt Bronzing Powder in 030 Medium Bronze

Yet another Catrice product that I have been enjoying lately. My skin is fair and so bronzers are often to dark or too orange for my skin tone, but this powder blends in flawlessly and looks totally natural.

The Body Shop Blush in Ginger

This has been a favorite of mine for a long time now and lucky for me, I don’t use too much so I have yet to hit pan on this one! J

MAC Mineralised Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle

Another long-time favorite of mine that has lasted me a while.

NYX Eyebrow Marker in Medium

Rather than lug a pot of shadow around, I opted for a thin marker this trip. My favorite one is definitely this NYX one.

Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel

I always take a setting gel with me, ‘cause you gotta keep those puppies in place for the day.

Urban Decay Primer Potion

My holy grail eye primer, but recently I have found a great contender for it’s top spot in my primer ranks. Found out more here.

Tarte Cosmetics Tartelette In Bloom Palette

This is a new palette in my collection but I am loving the colours in it. I tend to always take a palette with my when I travel for convenience. Singles take up way to much space, where a palette offers simplicity and a large choice of eye shadows.

Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Eye liner

My holy grail liquid eyeliner for the times I need to create a wing.

Rimmel Exaggerate Eye Definer in 261 Nior

A simple gel texture eyeliner for the simple eyeliner looks as well as tightline and waterline lining.

Bourjois Metallic Eyeliner in 54 Bleu Clinquant

An eyeliner of colour jst incase I need to experiment and change up the look while I am away. If the palette that I had taken with me had a few more exotic colours I would have probably left this eyeliner at home and used the eye shadow when wanting to create a brighter look.

Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara

My holy grail mascara, and what is a makeup look without mascara.

Rimmel Lipstick in 170 Alarm

Urban Decay Lipstick in Native

My choice of lipstick is simple – I pick a day colour and I pick a night colour based on the clothing that I have packed. For this holiday I decided on a red for the evenings incase I find things to do in the evenings, and I picked a nude for the day time because I know that a nude lip can never grow old and you can wear any eye shadow look with a nude lips.
