The moment that I saw this palette pop up on my Instagram feed I knew that I had to have it – it was calling my name. If you have been following me for a while, you might have noticed that I love my warm tones and often gravitate towards the coppers, oranges, golds and those shades and I am definitely a sucker for a berry shade! This palette literally looks like “the one”!

I have actually never used any KVD eyeshadows before so I am not familiar with the formula. So the question is, does it perform well? I’m really keen to find out.

The palette’s marketing tactic

Calling all lovers of our iconic shade “Lolita!” If you can’t get enough of our #1 chestnut rose shade, prepare to obsess over our biggest Lolita Palette yet: The Lolita Por Vida Eyeshadow Palette! Fall in love for life with 18 romantic shades in matte, shimmer, foil & super-glitter finishes. Just like “Lolita,” our #1 lip color, all the shades in this vegan eyeshadow palette were created with just the right balance of undertones to look beautiful on a range of skin tones.

The Lolita Por Vida palette retails for $49.90 at Sephora in the USA. I have looked for it locally in South Africa and came across it on Muse Beauty (I do not know the legitimacy of this website so buy at your own discretion). The packaging is very standard Kat Von D packaging with very tattoo-esc holographic typography. I should also mention that the packaging is cardboard, but sturdy which means that it will be great for travelling.

The palette has 18 shades in a range of matte, shimmer, foil and super-glitter. The shades included in the palette are:

  • Preciosa (shimmer cream),

My Verdict

This palette has wowed me in every way possible, and I totally think that evey makeup newbie should try this palette. Every shade is beautifully pigmented, and true to colour, incredibly smooth and blends well (making it easy to correct any mistakes). The variety of shades makes the palette great for the variety of skin tones that it has been designed for.

When I purchase a palette, there are certain elements that I look for, like transition shades, both shimmer shades and matte shades, and is there enough variation in the palette for me to create more than one eye look. The Lolita Por Vida pretty much has this all. The variety of shades allow me to make anything from a simple day-to-day make up look to a full glam look for a night out.

When using the shades, I only had fall out from one shade, but I did have some kickback in the palette which i think is important to mention.
