If you haven't already heard of Hey Gorgeous, then let me tell you a little bit about them. They create organic, vegetarian products, free from synthetics, that are guaranteed to leave anyone’s skin glowing, soft and absolutely amazing. For the most part, their products are vegan-friendly with a few exceptional products that contain honey.
AND their products are absolutely amazing!
And in case you missed my last post and snap chat stories, I received these product from Hey Gorgeous South Africa through a competition run by Booty and Beauty. See my previous post here. I have now been using the Hey Gorgeous Vitamin C Age Defying Serum and Moisturiser for a little over 2 months now, and I can only rave about how amazing these 2 products are.
I have received more compliments, about how amazing my skin is looking, than ever before since introducing the Vitamin C products into my daily skin care routine. I have visibly noticed a change in skin texture and the lines around my eyes. I have also been spot free, apart from the odd hormonal pimple, since using the serum and moisturiser.
The Hey Gorgeous Vitamin C Age Defying Serum
The serum comes in a pump action glass bottle with an acrylic cap.
The consistency of the serum confused me when I pumped it into my hand for the first time. When I read the word ‘serum’ on a bottle I am usually expecting to have a liquid that is a slightly thicker consistency than water come out of the bottle, but this serum is very runny. I would probably confuse it for water if I wasn’t watching myself actually pump it from the bottle. Given its consistency, I would have much preferred the serum to come with a dropper versus a pump action bottle because I would have better control of the amount of product I’m pumping into my hand before apply it to my face.
On a side note, I got asked once why I use my hands to apply my serums (an odd question I thought) but after finding out that the person that asked me uses cotton pads to apply her serums – my answer was simple, the cotton pad absorbs a lot of the product and it often doesn’t end up on your face but sits in the cotton pad. Also, Hey Gorgeous instructs you to warm up the serum in the palm of your hands before applying it to your face. 🙂
Now, I don’t know serums to have fragrances that are worth talking about, but I will give Hey Gorgeous some well-deserved credit – they add a simple, subtle touch of amazing to all their products. The serum doesn’t have a very strong smell and I would almost describe it as a subtle hint of ‘healthiness’, but the fact that it I don’t dread putting it on my face because of a strong ‘chemical’ smell makes me love applying the serum.
The Hey Gorgeous Vitamin C Age Defying Moisturiser
The cream comes in a glass jar with a twist-off lid, which I absolutely love! I much prefer jars because you can see how much product is left, and you can get to the last drop of cream at the bottom of the jar without having to cut through tubes and dig into the inside of a cap hoping for that last pea-sized blob of cream for your morning moisturising.
Another big up for me is the floral aroma that hits me when I open up the jar of moisturiser. It kind of makes me love applying my moisturiser.
I do find, though, that the moisturiser takes time to soak into my skin, which is a slight problem for me. Obviously, having acne prone skin, I am very aware of having an oily complexion or feeling oils (natural or from cream) on my skin. The longer cream takes to absorb the more anxious I get about it. For this reason, I only apply the moisturiser in the evenings – from face wash, to moisturiser and straight into bed. 🙂
All-in-all, these 2 products are a big win for me. I can’t find the words to describe how happy I am with my skin at the moment. The texture is great, there are no spots, lines seem to be finer and I just feel darn right flawless! Do yourself a favour and get your hands on the Hey Gorgeous Vitamin C Age Defying Serum and Moisturiser. You will not be disappointed.
