The essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara retails from around R67.00 in store. I bought mine online from Takealot.com, but it is available from many large online retailers in South Africa (Superbalist, Dischem, Clicks and more).
If waterproof is your thing, the Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara is also available with a waterproof formula.
Let’s talk packaging.
The mascara comes in a black evening-gown themed tube embellished with mint green details. The lid of the hour-glass tube is embellished with silicon details that make opening the product really easy.
Let’s talk marketing tactics and user reviews.
This original in the lash princess family leaves the user with big, bold and voluminous eyelashes with a false lash effect. The conic shaped fibre brush provides lashes with dramatic volume and sculpted length – like falsies without the hassle.
The gluten-free, paraben-free, and cruelty-free mascara family has racked up over 2 300 five-star reviews on Amazon. Reviewers claim that they are obsessed with the way this mascara makes their lashes look, leaving them with an irresistible false lash effect and dramatic volume.
So did it deliver?
Oh boy, did it deliver! Whenever I wear this mascara I always get the most wonderful compliments on my lashes and every time I wear it, I fall in love with its effects all over again. It’s no wonder that it quickly rose up to become one of SA’s top rated mascaras. I am very lucky to have long lashes that coat easily with mascara but it’s always great when I find an affordable mascara that doesn’t clump on my lashes and coats evenly throughout my lashes. The application of the mascara not only lengthened my eyelashes but also emphasised the natural curl in them.
The formula is lightweight and the conic shaped brush fans out and thickens my eyelashes giving them the appearance of falsies without the fuss. This mascara rivals even the high-end ones that I have tired before and I can confidently say that it’s a contender with the Too Faced Better Than Sex and the Urban Decay’s Troublemaker.
I had a few issues with the formula bleeding and smudging on my brow bone and under my eyes as my skin got oiler throughout the day, but there was no product flaking. I used a makeup remover cloth with nothing but water and it removed all of the mascara without any issues.
Definitely a big favourite in my makeup collection. It’s a great everyday long-wearing and budget-friendly mascara that you cannot go wrong with and I will happily purchase it again.
After a few hours of wear, I did notice that it bled product underneath my eyes and onto my brow bone where my top lashes touch the skin – it gave me a sort-of raccoon look. Based on reviews from beauty fanatics that have tested the product, they have experienced the same thing and thus the rise in popularity of the Waterproof version of this mascara. While the original formula is long-lasting, it’s not really smudge-proof. If you’re looking for a long-lasting and smudge-proof mascara I would definitely give the waterproof formula a try especially if you have oily skin that would commonly cause your mascara to bleed.
