Organic Coffee Scrub is the new body care rage, so I have jumped on the band wagon and bought myself the Bean Body Coffee Scrub.
The coffee scrub is said to improve the skin’s imperfections and leave it feeling softer and smoother than before, with the help of a number of key ingredients.
- Caffeine stimulates blood flow and helps reduce the appearance of cellulite, eczema, and stretch marks.
- Demerara Sugar and Himalayan Salt exfoliates the skin and removes imperfections like dead skin cells, acne, blackheads and ingrown hairs.
- Coconut Oil hydrates and moisturizes the skin, leaving it soft and smooth.
- Cocoa & Vitamin E are high in antioxidants which nourish and protect the skin, promoting cell repair and rejuvenation.
Now even though I don’t like to admit it, I am only human, and I do have a few skin imperfections that I would like to get rid of. I have a few stretch marks here and there, some cellulite, and spots on the back of my legs as a result of sitting down at a desk all day. These reasons, as well as wanting softer and smoother skin, are why I incorporate body scrubs into my body skin care routine.
The trick – finding a scrub that works for me and my skin.
I have a fussy skin. Now I know that sounds weird, but I really do. Sometimes I can handle a rough scrub and other times my skin is just too sensitive to use the same scrub that I have been using for months. I am always on the hunt for that perfect body scrub.
I cannot use a scrub that has big particles in it, and by that I mean large sugar and salt granules. I find that it takes too long for the large granules to dissolve and I end up scrubbing my skin raw.
The Bean Body Coffee Scrub has a very skin-friendly texture – it is soft and almost sponge-like. All the ingredients have been combined and broken down that makes the scrub kind on the skin while giving me all the benefits of a great body scrub. Even though the coffee granules do not dissolve entirely, they are not as harsh on the skin as what salt and sugar might be, and the salt and sugar that the Bean Body Scrub does contain are small enough to dissolve when I use the scrub.
The next amazing thing about this scrub is the smell… oh my. I have never loved the smell of a scrub more than I love the smell of this one. As soon as you open the packet, you are hit with the scent of roasted coffee with a hint of vanilla essence. Bean Body have 4 other coffee scrub flavours – Coco Berry, Coconut, Mandarin, and Peppermint – and I imagine that all 4 of these smell just as amazing as the Vanilla one that I have.
There are a few things about the coffee scrub that I do not enjoy. Firstly, the scrub leaves water filthy. I do not recommend that you use the scrub in the bath – unless you have always had a fantasy of bathing in coffee, then Bean Body is the answer.
I also found that the coffee granules don’t dissolve enough to be safe for your bathroom drain. I imagine that constant use of the scrub could lead to a blocked drain so I would recommend that you put a cheese cloth or coffee filter paper over the drain when you use the scrub.
I think that the Bean Body Coffee Scrub is a great scrub. I have noticed a massive difference in the texture of my skin since I have started using it, especially on the back of my legs. My skin feels softer and smoother, and I love the fact that the scrub isn’t harsh on my skin. I will definitely be buying this scrub again and trying out all the other flavours of scrub.
