Have you always wanted to know how to create your very own scar wax, well now you can using these simple steps.
You will need the following:
- Petroleum Jelly
- Baking Flour
- A Mixing Bowl
- A Teaspoon
- A Foundation
You are going to need to start off by putting 2 teaspoons of flour into the small mixing bowl.
You are then going to need to put 1 teaspoon of petroleum jelly into the mixing bowl with the flour. The basic ratio of flour to petroleum jelly is 2:1.
You are then going to need to mix the flour and the petroleum jelly together. This process might take some time but be patient. It can be a rather messy process so make sure you work on a surface that you can clean easily. In other words, don’t do this on a carpeted floor.
You can check the consistency of the mixture by rolling it up into a ball in your hands. If the mixture feels too soft then add a small amount of flour at a time until you reach the right consistency. If the mixture is too lumpy then slowly add more petroleum jelly until the mixture is right.
When I create a new batch, I separate a small amount from the mixture and put it aside. I use this small amount to create bones and tendons in my SFX looks because of the colour of the mixture.
The batch that is still left in the mixing bowl still needs a little bit of work. To personalize the mixture and to make blending it to your skin when creating SFX looks easier, I add a little bit of foundation that matches my skin tone. I usually start off with 2 pumps of foundation and mix it in until the mixture is even.
Double check the mixture by rolling it into a ball between your hands. If it has changed consistency then fix it by either adding flour or adding petroleum jelly depending on the problem with the mixture.
The DIY scar wax can be stored and reused in room temperature. If the mixture is kept in a condition that is too warm the DIY wax will separate.
Here are some looks that I created using the DIY scar wax that I made.
